I've noticed that for the past 6 months, pretty much every post has been about Ty. What the heck did I blog about before he was born??? You mean I used to have time to do things for myself? Though I realize life will only get more crazy in the future, I am work 20 hours a week and serve with the Young Women at church. Tim watches Ty while I work, but he has his own classes to take, teach, and do homework for, not to mention the fact that he is also the Deacon Adviser/YM 2nd counselor/Scoutmaster at Church. This means I don't get a lot of time away from Ty when I am not working, and demands at work are always increasing, so my time there is busy and stressful.
Even so, here are some things I do on my own:
I am happy to say that for the first time in almost six years, I got Grandma Rich's sewing machine out and used it!!! Ty's room is so bright that I don't put him down for naps there, so I decided to make curtains for his two large windows. I used the darkest color I could find (brown with white polka-dots), but it matches his cute bear theme. I have to admit, I was intimidated even to thread the machine, but now that I've brushed up, I am inspired to sew my own clothes...or maybe a pillow case or two :)
Occasionally if it works for our schedules, I get to sub my old yoga class from the Rec/Senior Center. I hope to get back to teaching someday. (For now, it's a struggle to even do it for myself)
A local yoga studio I go to sometimes hosted a master class with Bryan Kest. This just means he came from out of town and spends an hour talking and 2 hours teaching a yoga class. I was extremely excited about this opportunity because I have been doing his Power Yoga DVD for 5 years! I base my teaching on his yoga philosophy and still use his DVD when I do yoga at home. I guess you could say he is the reason I got into yoga.
Tim's cousin Sarah had an online party for these
Jamberry Nails, which are sticker-like things you put on your nails. I took some time to pamper myself and apply them, and now I get happy every time I see my "fishy" toenails. I've had them almost a month, so I'm ready for some new ones. FYI, I will be hosting a party on facebook soon, so let me know if you're interested!
And last but not least, I got to do another mom fashion show for
Downeast Basics, because my friend Natalie runs their
blog. I am always happy to do it, especially because I get to keep the clothes! Click
HERE for the video and fast forward to 1:30 if you want to skip the weird talk show part.
And so you can see, I am still here.
