Sanity Time

I've noticed that for the past 6 months, pretty much every post has been about Ty. What the heck did I blog about before he was born??? You mean I used to have time to do things for myself? Though I realize life will only get more crazy in the future, I am work 20 hours a week and serve with the Young Women at church. Tim watches Ty while I work, but he has his own classes to take, teach, and do homework for, not to mention the fact that he is also the Deacon Adviser/YM 2nd counselor/Scoutmaster at Church. This means I don't get a lot of time away from Ty when I am not working, and demands at work are always increasing, so my time there is busy and stressful.
Even so, here are some things I do on my own:

I am happy to say that for the first time in almost six years, I got Grandma Rich's sewing machine out and used it!!! Ty's room is so bright that I don't put him down for naps there, so I decided to make curtains for his two large windows. I used the darkest color I could find (brown with white polka-dots), but it matches his cute bear theme. I have to admit, I was intimidated even to thread the machine, but now that I've brushed up, I am inspired to sew my own clothes...or maybe a pillow case or two :)

Occasionally if it works for our schedules, I get to sub my old yoga class from the Rec/Senior Center. I hope to get back to teaching someday. (For now, it's a struggle to even do it for myself)

A local yoga studio I go to sometimes hosted a master class with Bryan Kest. This just means he came from out of town and spends an hour talking and 2 hours teaching a yoga class. I was extremely excited about this opportunity because I have been doing his Power Yoga DVD for 5 years! I base my teaching on his yoga philosophy and still use his DVD when I do yoga at home. I guess you could say he is the reason I got into yoga.
Tim's cousin Sarah had an online party for these Jamberry Nails, which are sticker-like things you put on your nails. I took some time to pamper myself and apply them, and now I get happy every time I see my "fishy" toenails. I've had them almost a month, so I'm ready for some new ones.  FYI, I will be hosting a party on facebook soon, so let me know if you're interested!
And last but not least, I got to do another mom fashion show for Downeast Basics, because my friend Natalie runs their blog. I am always happy to do it, especially because I get to keep the clothes! Click HERE for the video and fast forward to 1:30 if you want to skip the weird talk show part.
And so you can see, I am still here.

His smile lights up my life.

Ty and Ted

Last week, some friends from Denver came over and brought their nice dog, Ted. Ty wasn't so sure at first...
...But once Ted gave him kisses...
...and a ride...
Ty was okay with him.
The end.

Chompers Eats Cereal

I tried to wait for the signs the doctor had mentioned before starting this cute little Chompers on solid foods such as good head control (check),
and him acting interested in food when we eat it (double check).
...So we got the rice cereal out on Sunday.

My boy is growing up so fast

5 Months

I'm not a very good photographer, but I figured I'd try to take some similar pictures each month to see his growth.  Ty's growth has (finally) slowed down. He weighs 16lbs, less than a pound more than last month. By now, Ty can almost roll over. If it weren't for his darn arms that get stuck under him, he would have it mastered.  He has rolled from front to back a few times successfully (though never on camera)

Our neighbors gave us this exersaucer, aka spaceship. Ty feels pretty big in it!
Here is an excerpt from Ty's journal:
I am now settled into a pretty good routine, too. Though there is a LOT of variation, here is my schedule: wake up around 7:20 am to eat, play for a bit until I fall asleep for my morning nap which usually lasts about an hour, play until I eat again around 11am then take a noon nap for another hour. The afternoon is often when mommy tries to get me outside either to play on the grass, go on walks, or go to a store; then I eat around 2:30 or 3pm.  Occasionally I take a short evening nap around 4 or 5 and sit in my bumbo or spaceship while mom or dad makes dinner, then I eat again around 6, play with mom and/or dad (if mom is working), sometimes take a walk, eat at 9pm and go to sleep for the entire night.
Besides my routine, I do a lot with my day. Because mom and dad are both in the young women/men program at church, I get to go to the activities every Tuesday.  The girls there love holding and smiling at me, and I like to show off for them with my cute smile, too!  Mom has started taking me to Mother Goose Story Time at the Louisville Library on Thursday mornings. I have such a great time sitting on her lap while we recite nursery rhymes, sing songs, and listen to short stories. We do a lot of bouncing to the rhythm and I have a smile on my face the entire 30 minutes!

Labor Day Weekend

Is this not the cutest picture ever:
Tim is excited about football season. He enjoyed following games last weekend (apparently, Ty did too).
Tim and I needed some motivation to get out and exercise this summer, so we trained for the Coal Creek Crossing, a 10 mile race our city put on.  We weren't great about training, but we both finished!

It started and finished at our big community park which is conveniently located across the street from some friends house.  They were nice enough to watch Ty while we ran.
Saturday night we went to Mormon night at the Rockies.
Ty was conked out during his favorite part-the 7th Inning Stretch.

Louisville had a parade on Monday morning. It wasn't anything too crazy, but me and Ty walked downtown to check it out.  Some of the noise made him cry, but other than that he liked it.
 See, proof we were there.
And a few other pictures of our big guy:
Doing good at tummy time!
Showing off how good he can be in his outfit from Aunt Aubrey.

Fun with dad
Naps are hard
