May 2017

Besides other blog posts for this month, we've had some pretty great events. Ty graduated from Pre-K. He went to Kids' Stop just up the road from us. It is a free state-wide program. I think a lot of people used it as a day-care, and I often felt bad that it was full day, five days a week, but in the end, it was good for him. He liked his teacher, Miss Jessica (pictured above), and got into a good routine to prepare him for kindergarten next Fall.
Summers in Georgia are HOT and HUMID! We cooled off as best we could with water activities. Above is the kids at the fountains downtown. Below is a sweet Mother's Day present: a van wash!
And lastly, a few more pictures of everyday Lucy. As you can see, she's a mess about half the time, but super cute, sweet, caring, and full of personality all of the time.

Tie Breaker On The Way!

I've always wanted to do a gender reveal cake, but I was too excited to find out if our baby was a boy or girl to wait, so I decided to do it for the kids. Ty wanted a boy and Lucy wanted a girl.
 And...

It's a GIRL!

Upon hearing the news, Ty ran out of the room, but Lucy is excited about having a baby sister. We're excited too. To tell the truth, I wanted a girl simply because I thought it would be fun to have two siblings close together of the same gender. I want Lucy and new baby to be friends. And I know Lucy is going to be the BEST big sister. This baby is VERY lucky.

April Adventures

Strawberry picking

Hiking up Pine Mountain in Cartersville with Jennifer and Ella (I'm finding other things to do instead of running so much)
LDS Pioneer Trek prep hike on Berry Campus with the youth.
Tim ran a 10 mile race at the Chickamauga Battlefield while I walked with the kids. It was a beautiful morning, and a very scenic walk. The kids really love being part of our races! They even got shirts and SWAG!

We Love Easter!

Remember how I said we love visitors? Well, guess who came for Easter!? Aunt Aubrey!!! We didn't do too much, but we DID have an awesome weekend.
Easter happened to fall on Ty's birthday this year, but we did most of the celebrating on Saturday.
These two are hilarious. And my favorites.
 Egg Hunt
Back in St. George, my family has a big Easter weekend reunion/celebration. I am always sad to miss, so I throw an Easter Party when I can. This year we threw it a few weeks early, and it was a big success.
Egg hunting
The kids all made out like bandits and had a great time.
And don't forget our "Peep's Show!" Ours was supposed to be Moana, but our overachiever attendees made theirs ahead of time and beat ours by far. Really far.

Happy Birthday Ty!

I can't believe I have a big 5 year old!  Ty wanted a Transformers party, but I hadn't been feeling well (pregnancy), so I managed to talk him into a low key party. It just so happened that April 15th was the Rome Braves' opening day and they even had fireworks after the game! We ate cake and ice cream with Ty's friend Emmanuel from church, then headed to the stadium.
Ty's shark Snuggie from Aunt Aubrey
Lucy and I took little ice cream cups to Ty's preschool class.
Helping sister.

More Visitors

We love having visitors, and it was so fun that Grandpa Tom and Grandma Sheila were able to come out from Utah! Their trip involved lots of hikes, walks, and FOOD! Starting with the Honeymoon Bakery.
Next up was a visit to Berry Campus, a hike up to the lake from the Old Mill, and a tour of Oak Hill, Martha Berry's home. It was my first time there, too, and the tour was LONG, but the grounds were very nice. It is also the home in Sweet Home Alabama, one of my favorite movies!
Grandma and Grandpa came during Conference Weekend, so we headed up to the cabin to relax, hike, and listen.
Hiking at Cloudland Canyon State Park

We also headed to Chattanooga for the Children's Discovery Museum, where the kids had a blast!

Building a car!
