CAMP TY Birthday

When we found out Tim's parents and Aubrey were coming for Ty's first birthday, we decided to throw a party! We decided on a Colorado/camping theme and sent these invites to them.
Everyone arrived on Friday and took Ty to the Children's Museum while Tim went to school and I did some shopping, then we all went to dinner and walked around the 28th Street Mall in Boulder.

Saturday was the day of the party. Ty started the day out opening one present, his first pair of Nike's from Grandpa Rod (that are pretty similar to Tim's!) Ty loved wearing them and walking around in them. I think they made him feel like a big boy!
Before we left on our picnic, we made our own bags of trail mix:

Aubrey and Grandma Diney kept Ty busy while we were packing the picnic.
We had a picnic in Eldorado State Park, only about 15 minutes away from our house. There, Ty got to open a few more presents. He got a mini-camping chair and lantern from his Grandma and Grandpa Larsen, and some batman pajamas from Grandpa Tom. (I'll post more pictures once I gather them from Aubrey and Diney. Come visit again soon!)

Tim and Rod did the cooking.
Cute picture!
 Delicious tin foil dinners
 Roasting marshmallows

We played a game at the picnic where we had to draw a picture on plates while they were on our heads. I gave instructions such as "start with the ground...draw two mountains coming up out of the ground..." the picture of the plates below are what we ended up with. We also went on a scavenger hunt for things in nature.
Once we were home, we played some "camp games." They were basically Minute to Win It type games, as pictured below, and finished with some Colorado Trivia!

Then it was time to open up the rest of the presents! Can you tell he got a LOT of presents?

He received a few things from Grandma Bywater including a Dr Seuss Book, a "Birthday Boy" shirt (worn on his actual birthday), and a soft bear that he loves to cuddle. From Grandpa Tom, he got a cute outfit and some shape blocks. He loves to roll his Cars cars back and forth and got a Dog book from Aubrey. Opened a cute truck book and matching pajamas from Grandpa Rod, and received a beautiful, homemade quiet book from Grandma Diney (pictures to come).
This gift, homemade by Ty's aunt Deanne was pretty clever. The white shirt says "Daddy's Study Buddy" on the front and has the normal distribution equation on the back. The red one sas "Mommy's Running Coach" on the front and "If you can read this, we're just warming up" on the back. Thanks Deanne, Scott, Mackenzie, and Matthew!

This boy was already very spoiled, but then we brought our gift down to him, a big dump truck with mega blocks (big legos) in the back. Ty even found out how to use the truck to assist him in walking (on grandma and grandpa's watch).
Ty was too grumpy for cake Saturday night, so we waited until Sunday. I made a "campfire cake!"

Ty REALLY liked his chocolate cake. He picked up the entire piece with both hands and shoved it in his mouth (and up his nose). He didn't want to move his hands away from his face because he was afraid he wouldn't get another chance to put more in! Aubrey and Diney gave Ty his bath that night, and they said there were chocolate chunks all over, but it was stuck in his nose even after the bath!
Ty enjoyed his birthday party, and especially the attention he got from his visitors. Thank you all for your gifts and birthday wishes! I can't believe this cute, crazy kid is ONE!
